Based in the heart of Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter, ‘Thoroughbred’ celebrates people’s love of horses and captures the magnificent experience and emotion one feels through the artistic expression of precious metal.
The ‘Thoroughbred’ Jewellery collection resonates with the essence of what so many admire about horses and importantly, each design can be worn as a mark of pride. For this reason, Andrew Moss is happy for each piece to carry his own initials, ‘ACLM’, as part of the hallmark stamp.
Andrew began his education in the traditional skills in 1989, with some of the most skilled Setters and Goldsmiths and Silversmiths in the trade, at that time. He learned the techniques for setting precious stones, trained in the manufacture and repair of existing or historical pieces (including the renowned ‘Order of the Garter’ brooch), and became educated in the manufacture of new designs inspired by each individual client. Over the years, Andrew carefully honed and adapted those skills and techniques, so that he could offer a more personal service to his clients individual tastes and desires.
Andrew takes the design essence of centuries-old simple horse tack and turns it into an exquisite piece of art which many are proud to wear – even those without a special affinity for horses.
Scaling down technical equipment into a piece of jewellery is second nature to Andrew. The true skill shines through in Andrew’s interpretation and artistic line as the jewellery retains its original essence so that it is still immediately recognisable.
Andrew is first and foremost a jeweller so he will actively encourage a client’s suggestions or recommendations when a particular variation is more personal to them or to their horse.
Each ‘Bit’ design is as personal to the horse and rider, as an engagement ring is to its wearer.
